I was just thinking about this myself, the other day our beloved geriatric bearded dragon departed us and he left behind some spendy lighting that I am tempted to try on one of my algae loving cichlids' tanks... just haven't decided which.
I think it would be great, and the uva/uvb light might be appreciated more than we'd expect in shallow water dwelling fish!

I used it for 2 days sparingly and now I have the cloudiest water in that tank from an algae bloom. I put the proper light on the tank and have been doing 25% water changes every other day to try and rectify it. The problem is its not settling anywhere its just green green green cloudy water. And that was only a low spectrum bulb!

if the water is green itself, then you need to polish it. If you have access to a diatom filter that'll clear the whole tank up in under 30 minutes. If not and the water is bothering you put a "poly filter" in they absorb everything.

Shame the LFS wasn't more accomodating.

Makes you wonder how many other customers they've lost.......

Guess Hagen was right about the algae bloom, and it happened quick!!
