A breeding pair may be hard. They are VERY protective of there spawning site and fry. I have seen a jack dempsy hovery at the top corner of a 100 gallon tank cause 2 little 2" convicts had a spawn at the other end of the tank!!

I had, (note "had") a breeding pair of convicts in my 125g african tank. Not a good move. When I set the tank up all the fish where small and happy and got along very well with each other. Then they grew up. The convicts dominated the tank and streeded out my aficans. I ended up trading my pair to a local for some fish food. I like convicts and they're great parents. If I raise them again I would put them in their own tank.

THANKS! I think I may put them in there own tank! I didnt do much research yet so I had no idea about that!:)

I agree, convicts pound for pound are one of the most aggressive cichlids out there. They tore up my spawning pair of adult oscars, and they weren't any where near full grown!
